Salisbury success makes it three for Lexington Belle
After his brother’s huge success in winning the G1 Nunthorpe at the York Ebor meeting it was finally Live In The Moment’s time to get his head back in front after a fair time between drinks! He’d gone agonisingly close at Doncaster in May and then “won” his side in the Stewards’ Cup consolation last month, so he fully deserved to get back in the winners’ enclosure at Goodwood. His ever-enthusiastic owners were on hand to enjoy another successful day out, and now that he’s winning again hopefully Live In The Moment can be competitive back in the good-quality handicaps he’s shown he can be thereabouts in previously.
Lexington Belle meanwhile has had no issue knowing where the winning post is, and continued on her upward curve by making light work of just the two rivals at Salisbury. Her York form made this a simple-looking task on paper and the betting market very much agreed, so the facile nature of her success came as no surprise. Things will get tougher now she’ll be racing from her new official rating of 82, but her improvement has been sharp that it may not prove beyond her to continue to be competitive in those higher-level nurseries. She raced over a mile here, and she’s been just as effective at seven furlongs.
