To The Bar

2018 Gelding – Tamayuz (GB) x Coachhouse Lady (USA)

To The Bar was a smart juvenile who began his three-year-old season rated as high as 96.

He’s been lightly-raced since and has found himself on a mark of 72 having been unable to replicate his early form, but he was a cheap purchase with what we considered to be plenty of upside.

He’s being prepared for an all-weather campaign in late 2023.

2022 Colt – Showcasing (GB) x Tasman Sea (GB)

This Showcasing colt was purchased by me from the Goffs Yearling sale at Doncaster.

Her dam is a half-sister to the useful (93-rated) 2yo Fourpenny Lane, who progressed to be a dual black type winner over a little further, as well as the G3-placed juvenile Graphic Guest, herself the dam of the speedy black type performer Come On Leicester. Adding Showcasing into the mix should make for a sharp, talented type who should be making an impression in his two-year-old season.

2022 Filly – Sergei Prokofiev (CAN) x Angels Wings (IRE)

This filly was purchased by me from the Somerville Yearling sale at Tattersalls.

This filly didn’t appear to have had the best of preparations leading up to the sale, and as such there should be an awful lot of progression to come from her in the coming months. She’s bred to be very sharp as well as talented, with all five of her dam’s runners having been good enough to win races – she’ already produced the speedy juvenile filly California Gem who was precocious and fast enough to be second in the £150,000 sales race last season.

With her sire very popular at the sales already this could be an exciting filly, and we’re already really looking forward to seeing what she is capable of next season.

2022 Filly – Kodiac (GB) x Ruby Shoes (IRE)

This filly was purchased by me from the Tattersalls Ireland September yearling sale.

Her Gleneagles half-sister Livinthelife has been giving us encouraging signs at home and will progress on to be a lovely three-year-old with the middle distance pedigree from Gleneagles, so we’re delighted to have secured this Kodiac filly as well, ensuring there is now speed put back in.

She is out of the winning Rock Of Gibraltar mare Ruby Shoes, who is herself a full sister to the dual Listed winner Allexina. It’s their half-siblings who have really shone, however, with Saddler’s Rock successful in the G2 Goodwood and Doncaster Cups, and Tarfasha also successful at G2 level as well as placing in the Oaks.

I am a big fan of Kodiac and she is doing everything right so far.

ex Angelic Guest

2022 Filly – New Bay (GB) x Angelic Guest (IRE)

This striking filly was purchased by me from the Tattersalls Book 2 sale in October.

By the sire of top G1 winners Bay Bridge, Saffron Beach, and Bayside Boy, we were drawn to her as we’ve had success with her three-year-old Kodiac half-brother Playupskyblues, winning three times with him from just eight starts.

She has the physical to match, and with the pair also half-siblings to the useful miler Notre Belle Bete, and we are excited to see how she develops.
